Kabuki masks for the Black Hawk are a masking set for a model of the American transport helicopter in 1:48 scale. They are self-adhesive shapes cut from flexible tape, which are stuck onto the glazing and onto the other places that are to stay clean after spraying. The set is intended for the ICM 48361 and 48362 kits.
Unlike a fighter, a helicopter has glazing divided into many separate panes: the windscreen, the side windows, the view panels in the doors and in the roof. Covering an area like that by hand takes long hours and it is usually still obvious where the hand wavered. The higher level of the set also deals with the inner side of the glass and with the landing gear wheels, so the frames look natural from both viewpoints and the tires come out sharply separated from the rims.
The UH-60A is the basic army form of the machine which from the end of the 1970s replaced older single-engine helicopters. It carries a pair of turboshaft engines, a four-blade main rotor and a low-set fuselage adapted to carrying a squad of soldiers. Its canted tail boom is among the most recognizable silhouettes of postwar aviation, and on a model it calls for careful masking of the view panels, because every imperfection shows on a large area of glass.
