Painting masks for the canopy of the Fairey Battle Mk.I in 1:72 scale from Peewit cover the glazing before the first coat of paint reaches the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
Peewit supplies pre-cut self-adhesive masks with which the glazed areas of the British light bomber's canopy are covered before spraying. The shape is cut for a particular kit in 1:72 scale, so the frames come out straight and crisp without being outlined by hand with a brush.
The Fairey Battle Mk.I was created in the mid-1930s as a single-engined day bomber with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and a crew of three. In its day it looked modern, but against the fighters of 1940 it was slow and weakly defended. Its commitment over France ended in heavy losses for it, and the machines then ended their service mainly with training units and as tugs. Even so it stayed in the memory as a typical representative of the interwar school of design.
Degrease the glazing first and let it dry completely. Lift the masks with tweezers and press them with a toothpick exactly into the corners of the frame; then run a fingernail along the edges so that paint does not creep under them. Spray thinly and in several passes, as a thick coat will create a step. Remove them while the finish is still fresh. Any remaining adhesive is wiped off by a cotton swab dipped in water with a drop of detergent.
The package holds only the die-cut masks: neither the model nor the shades belong to them.
