A transparent accessory in 1:72 scale from the brand Mark I, intended to replace the cockpit canopy on a model of the Westland Wyvern in its early form. According to the name there are two pieces in the package, so one can be sacrificed on a trial cut. It is a transparent molding, not a complete model.
The Wyvern was a British carrier-borne strike aircraft with an unusually massive fuselage and contra-rotating propellers. The early machines differed from the later production form in the shape of the glazing and in a number of airframe details, so a replacement canopy makes it possible to build a variant that the basic kit need not cover. A vacuum-formed film is also markedly thinner than an injection-molded part, and the frame of the cockpit then looks more delicate.
Paint the molding from the inside first in the shade of the interior, and only then cut it out. Draw the outline with a spirit-based marker, trim it with a margin and sand the rest down with fine paper on glass until the part seats exactly. It is glued with a clear PVA glue for clear parts, which does not fog the surface. Mask the frames with narrow tape or with thin strips cut with a scalpel. It pays to work over a tray, because the featherweight part flies off at every careless movement.
