1:48 Westland Lysander Mk.I/Mk.III seatbelts STEEL brings steel crew belts for the British liaison aircraft in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small photo-etched set completes the cockpit of a model of the Westland Lysander in the Mk.I and Mk.III versions in 1:48 scale. The straps are etched from steel sheet and supplied already colored, so they only need shaping and seating. The set is signed by Eduard, the Czech maker of photo-etched accessories.
The Lysander was a British high-wing aircraft for army cooperation, conspicuous for its massive landing gear spats and its ability to take off and land on a very short strip. It was exactly that quality that destined it for secret night flights, on which it dropped off and picked up agents in the meadows of occupied France. The Mk.I and Mk.III versions differed mainly in the powerplant from the Bristol Mercury family. The landing ground was often no more than a hastily marked field.
The cockpit of the Lysander is glazed on all sides, so the interior is very much in view once it is finished and it pays to fuss over the straps. The tandem layout means two stations, where it is a good idea to set the belts at different angles so that the result does not look like a copy. The metal straps will also take a light flattening of the sheen, which knocks back their unnatural gloss.
