The sheet 1:16 Paint Masks Set For Pz. Beob. Wg. IV Ausf.J Insignia And Numbers brings crosses and numbers for a large model of the artillery observation vehicle derived from the Panzer IV tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
The insignia sheet is intended for a model of the Pz. Beob. Wg. IV Ausf. J, that is, the observation vehicle that came about by converting a Panzer IV tank. It contains national crosses and numerals and is cut from a thin tape that can be used again after removal. In a large scale it stands out that a sprayed marking has no glossy edge of the kind a decal gives away. The paint settles directly onto the surface and merges with it even after a later matte coat.
Observation vehicles traveled with batteries of self-propelled artillery and their task was to direct fire from a forward position. That is why their armament was cut back in favor of expanded radio equipment and observation instruments; the vehicle had to survive an artillery barrage but did not itself need great firepower. Their markings followed from the artillery unit rather than from a tank regiment, so the layout of the numbers tends to be different from that of tank companies.
Distribute the markings according to period photographs of your own vehicle, not according to the customs of tank companies. Transfer the small parts with tweezers, press them down with a blunt tool and spray two light passes. Remove the mask as soon as the paint loses its sheen. On observation vehicles the markings tend to be more modest than on combat machines, so do not cut them back at random.
