Masks of the national insignia and identification numbers of the B-24J Liberator bomber in 1:48 scale bring three variants of marking on two sheets.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two sheets with pre-cut shapes for the American stars with side bars and for the identification numbers. The manufacturer offers three variants of marking, so from one package you build one of three machines, or combine the elements according to a subject of your own. The shapes are cut from a thin masking tape, which after removal leaves no traces and will take a second use.
A sprayed star has no carrier film, it will not crease over rivets and once dry it merges with the surface in a way a decal could not. With the Liberator that goes double: the insignia sit across a side panel full of small projections and across large areas, where the glossy patch of a decal would give itself away at every look against the light. Varnishing and smoothing the edges falls away as well.
The base must be smooth and perfectly cured, as otherwise a mask will not stick around its whole perimeter. First spray the white, after drying lay on the shape of the star and add the blue; thin layers are essential, so that the edge does not form a ridge. Before removal check that the paint is no longer drying, and peel the shapes off slowly at a sharp angle. If a leak nevertheless appears somewhere, it can be repaired with a thin brush before the final varnish comes in turn.
