1:72/48 Aircraft Hangar/Workshop 1930s-1960s A4 Display Base w/PE combines a printed hangar or workshop floor with photo-etched metal parts, and it does so for two scales at once.
Responsibility details are not available.
This display base has something extra over plain printed sheets: besides the printed card with the floor of a hangar or a repair workshop from the period between the 1930s and the 1960s, it also holds photo-etched metal elements. It is these that turn a flat printed area into a believable surface, because they lie above it and cast a real shadow.
The metal section of the set captures the elements that really are in every workshop floor and that look flat in print: the gratings of the drainage channels and round covers with an anti-slip pattern. They are laid straight onto the printed spots, or an opening is cut underneath them to create an impression of depth. The result then stands up even to a close look and to photography from a short distance.
Glue the printed sheet onto a firm board and varnish it, and degrease the metal elements before gluing and tone them to a steel or rusty shade. Apply super glue in spots only, so that the card does not curl. A dark wash softens the transitions around the gratings and pigment adds traces of use.
Because the metal elements are laid onto the printed area, the scene can be extended step by step: another sheet with the same motif is all it takes and the work goes on. Glue and shades are not in the package.
