Plastic sprues for the kit of the Spitfire Mk. IXe fighter in 1:48 scale. The OVERTREES line, that is without decals, photo-etched parts, masks and instructions.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Spitfire Mk. IX came about as a quick answer to the new German fighters: a liquid-cooled V12 with a two-stage supercharger was built into the older airframe. The solution, which was meant to be a stopgap, proved itself so well that the Mk. IX was built in large numbers. The letter e in the designation relates to the make-up of the armament in the wing, where heavy machine guns supplemented the pair of cannons and the layout of the weapons changed against the older wings.
The designation is carried by a package with the plastic sprues from the kit alone. Decals, photo-etched parts, masks and instructions are not in it. It is intended for the modeler who knows the corresponding kit and wants to build another machine, whether from his own decals or from a sheet bought separately.
Obtain the documentation from the corresponding kit; it is not in the package. Cut the parts off a little away from the gate, proceed especially carefully with the thin edges and sand the remainder. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. The transitions of British camouflage tend to be fairly sharp, so it pays to block the boundaries of the shades off with a mask or masking putty and to spray in thin coats.
The package will be reached for by modelers who build British fighters in larger numbers or who have a stock of markings at home. The contents are plastic sprues only; decals, photo-etched parts, masks, instructions, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
