As the diameter grows, the balance of forces changes with a head that has a washer. Whereas with the fine dimensions the hex itself dominates, here it is rather the circular collar beneath it that takes the attention. On a large model that is an advantage: the mating surface reads as a full element of the structure and does not act as a mere dot.
A shape with a shoulder belongs among the things put on a model at the very end. There are several reasons. It is easily broken off while clamping, it is harder to clean when sanding dust gets into it, and any repair of the surrounding paint means the head has to be masked. It therefore pays to close off all the other work and only then reach for the tweezers.
On small covers and caps it tends to be too sturdy already. As soon as the collar starts to reach beyond the outline of the surface it seats on, the joint loses credibility and looks as though it had been carried over from another scale.
The number of pieces in the package is not stated here, so we recommend buying according to the number of planned positions and not relying on the stock lasting for a whole model.
