A hex bolt with a large washer 1.2 mm in size. In terms of shape it is a pair of elements in one: a hex head, which the eye recognizes at once, and under it the wide ring of a washer. On a model such a joint reads even from a greater distance, and a surface that had been smooth until then gains scale by it.
A hex head with a washer belongs on joints that in reality are undone with a wrench and transfer a load into a thinner wall: covers and lids, the mounting of tanks, brackets and supports, frame feet, the fixing of footpegs or of an exhaust. It also serves well in places where a kit has no detail, because the manufacturer could not mold it, or where it disappeared while the seams were worked.
Level and degrease the surface under the part so that the wide washer seats fully and does not tilt. Mark the position in advance with a shallow recess and carry the glue in a minute amount with the tip of a wire or a toothpick. When painting, leave the edges of the hex clean: a thin coat of paint keeps them crisp, a thick one rounds them off. A dark wash let in at the foot of the part will reliably separate it from the surface.
