A resin set of rounds for the American 3-inch M7 gun in 1:35 scale. It suits open ammunition racks, the loader in the turret and the furnishing of a terrain scene.
Responsibility details are not available.
The American gun of three inches caliber, that is 76.2 mm, came about by reworking an older anti-aircraft barrel, and from 1943 it armed the M10 Wolverine tank destroyer and the towed M5 anti-tank gun. It was loaded with a fixed round with a long brass case, on which the narrowed neck and the massive base with the primer stand out. The M62 armor-piercing capped projectile carried the weight of the fighting against armor, while the M42A1 high-explosive round belonged against infantry and field fortifications.
A flexible mold pulls off a finished piece even over raised shapes, and that is why you will find detail here that a steel injection mold does not allow: the undercut groove below the base, the sharp edge of the driving band and a full, undivided case body. The draft angle that a press needs to eject the part also falls away, so the cylindrical section stays truly cylindrical along its whole length.
Each piece is held on a casting block. Separate it with a cut from a fine saw rather than by snapping it off: resin cracks unpredictably and the crack goes where it likes. Sand wet and do not breathe the dust that is produced. Before painting, bathe the parts in warm soapy water so that the mold release residue disappears; otherwise the paint settles in patches. The joint is held by super glue or by two-part epoxy, while cement for polystyrene does not work here at all.
Rounds laid out around an open hatch, a pair leaned against the side of the hull or a stacked supply in the stowage immediately give away that someone is replenishing the vehicle in the middle of a fight. It is precisely this small story that turns a model into a scene.
