An injection-molded plastic kit of the British ocean liner HMHS Britannic in 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss. According to the manufacturer it contains a one-piece hull, well divided decks, photo-etched parts (among them the funnels) and separately molded lifeboats. A display stand and a nameplate are included in the package. The assembled model is roughly 39 cm long, so it is a handsome piece for the display case.
The Britannic was the third and largest of the ships of the Olympic class of the White Star Line, sister ship of the famous Titanic and of the Olympic. She was originally to serve as a luxury ocean liner, but because of the First World War she was completed and put into service as a hospital ship (His Majesty's Hospital Ship). In 1916 she sank in the Aegean Sea after an explosion, probably after striking a mine. The recognition mark of hospital service was the white hull with bold stripes and red crosses.
Work in subassemblies and finish and paint the one-piece hull and the decks before you fit the small parts. Glue the photo-etched funnels and railings with cyanoacrylate glue. Lay down a primer before painting and apply the colors with an airbrush; masking will make the sharp boundaries between the white hull and the stripes easier. It is a good idea to paint the small boats and davits separately and to fit them only at the end. The model can be displayed on the stand supplied.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
