1:700 IJN Aircraft Carrier Taiho from Fujimi is a plastic kit of the Japanese aircraft carrier Taiho, the first Japanese carrier with an armored flight deck, in 1:700 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This plastic kit from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi captures the aircraft carrier Taiho in 1:700 scale. Taiho was technically the most advanced Japanese aircraft carrier of her day, and the model with its closed hurricane bow and massive island with funnel makes a striking silhouette that will not be lost in a collection.
Taiho entered service in the spring of 1944 as the first Japanese aircraft carrier with an armored flight deck, designed to withstand aerial bombs. She became the flagship of Vice Admiral Ozawa and in June 1944 took part in the Battle of the Philippine Sea, where a torpedo from an American submarine hit her; the ship was lost after an explosion of accumulated gasoline vapor on her very first operation.
Spray the massive hull naval gray, set the flight deck apart with a darker shade and bring out the engraved lines with a panel wash. Paint the island with its funnel separately and fit it only at the end. Bond the small fittings with a thin cement applied with a small brush — the joints will stay clean.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
