Fujimi 1:700 IJN Yamato 1941 Fune Next — a model of the most famous battleship of all time in her state on completion in December 1941. The NEXT line: parts molded in color and a build without glue.
Responsibility details are not available.
A kit of the largest battleship in history from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi in the modern Fune Next line. The parts are molded in color and snap together — the model can be finished without glue and without painting, and still looks very convincing. This version captures Yamato in her state on entering service in December 1941, that is in her original form before the later massive strengthening of her anti-aircraft armament.
With a standard displacement of over 64000 tons Yamato was the largest battleship ever to put to sea. Her main armament consisted of nine 460 mm guns in three triple turrets — the heaviest naval guns in history. She entered service on 16 December 1941, shortly after the outbreak of the war in the Pacific, and served as the flagship of the Combined Fleet. Her 1941 form differs markedly from the well-known final state of 1945 in having fewer anti-aircraft guns and cleaner deck lines.
Thanks to the parts molded in color the kit is ideal even for less experienced builders — it is enough to separate the parts cleanly from the frames with a sharp knife. More experienced modelers can lift the model further with a fine wash, toning of the deck and add-on photo-etched railings.
The kit is supplied unassembled. The parts are molded in color and snap together without glue; paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
