A kit of the Japanese Hiburi class escort ship in 1:700 scale, carrying the designation 2in1. A model of a Second World War escort vessel.
Responsibility details are not available.
Hiburi is the designation of a class of escort ships of the Imperial Japanese Navy from the Second World War. Vessels of this kind were no stars of the battle line, but they did the work a naval war cannot do without: they escorted convoys, patrolled and defended shipping against submarines. That is exactly why they have a charm of their own in a display case, where they tend to be surrounded only by large surface warships.
This is a kit of a ship model in 1:700 scale, that is in the most widespread scale for surface vessels. The 2in1 designation belongs to the set according to the manufacturer; what exactly the package holds and which build options it allows is described in the instructions. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Work in subassemblies: the hull and the deck separately, the superstructures separately. Painting is easier in this scale while the sections are still apart, because later a brush will not reach between the superstructures. Separate small parts such as guns and masts with a sharp blade, not by twisting. Sand the surplus material after cutting. Anyone who wants to go further will add ship rigging from thin dark thread; stretch it only at the very end, when everything else is firmly in place.
The kit suits a modeler who enjoys smaller Second World War vessels and does not mind fine work. Given the size of the parts it is better suited to someone who has already built a ship in this scale. Paints, glue and thinner are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
