A veneer deck 1:700 for the Japanese battleship Musashi from Artwox Model is an aftermarket accessory to a plastic kit. It will replace the plastic deck with real wood with the laying of the planks printed on it.

The set from Artwox Model is not a kit but an accessory for a modeler who is building the battleship Musashi in 1:700 scale. The thin wooden veneer is cut to the shape of the deck areas, on the face it has the laying of the planks printed on it and on the back a self-adhesive layer. On so large a ship the deck forms an enormous continuous area, and it is precisely that which decides whether a model reads as a scaled-down original or as a plastic product.
The Musashi was the second completed unit of the Japanese class of battleships with the heaviest gun armament ever carried on ships of this type. It was an exceptionally large vessel with a massive superstructure and expansive deck areas. For a modeler the interesting part is the combination of an enormous deck, broken-up superstructures and densely placed anti-aircraft armament in the later states.
On large decks it is decided at the end, during varnishing. The veneer itself is porous and quickly takes up grease and dust, so once it is glued on and possibly washed, seal it with a thin coat of matte varnish. Use a varnish compatible with what you painted the model with and spray from a greater distance in several light passes. A heavy wet coat can saturate the veneer, darken it and in the worse case ripple it. If you want to keep the contrast between the wood and the steel deck, varnish only after the superstructures are finished and the surrounding areas painted. Before gluing itself, do not forget to sand the plastic and degrease it with alcohol.
This is an accessory to a plastic kit, not a model of the ship. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
