Artwox Model wooden deck for the Japanese battleship Musashi in 1:700 scale is an accessory for a plastic kit: veneer with pre-printed plank laying and a self-adhesive backing. Made for the Fujimi 460024 kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for a plastic kit, not a model on its own. A thin wooden veneer with pre-printed deck planking and a self-adhesive backing goes onto the plastic deck of the base kit. Large battleships in 1:700 have a long and wide main deck, on which the difference between engraved plastic and real wood shows more strongly than on any other type of vessel. The set is meant for the Fujimi 460024 kit.
On a long deck it pays to start in the middle. Peel the backing film off over a small area roughly in the middle of the part, seat the veneer against the outline and work from there alternately toward the bow and the stern. If you glue from one end, a small inaccuracy multiplies along the length and at the other end you will be a few tenths of a millimeter short, which in this scale can be seen.
Openings for turrets, superstructures, hatches and outlets are usually pre-cut in the veneer, but always try them dry first. If one of them overlaps a plastic detail, it is better to adjust the opening in the veneer slightly than the plastic part. Keep the small offcuts that arise around the superstructures: they often come in handy to fill places where the plastic deck continues under a superstructure and the printed part does not reach. Once everything is down, press it all firmly, and only then put the deck fittings back.
This is an accessory, not a kit. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
