Tamiya 1:700 Japanese Navy Submarine I-16 and I-58 is an injection-molded plastic kit of two Imperial Japanese Navy submarines from the Waterline series.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of two Imperial Japanese Navy submarines in 1:700 scale from the proven Waterline series. The package contains one hull of each submarine with detail on the conning tower, guns and superstructures, and a small reconnaissance floatplane with a catapult belongs to the I-58. The models are laid out as waterline kits. Supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The I-16 was one of the large ocean-going submarines that carried two-man midget submarines meant to penetrate enemy harbors, and it was part of the forces linked to the attack on Pearl Harbor. The I-58 was built later in the war and carried a small reconnaissance floatplane launched by catapult. Both boats represent the typical large fleet submarine of Japanese design with long range.
Separate the small parts with a sharp knife and clean them up so that no burrs remain. Spray the hull with an airbrush and bring out the decks and gun mounts with a dark wash that runs into the engraved lines and recesses. The model shows well on a wave base or in a diorama of the sea surface. The fine aerials and barrels are prone to bending, so work carefully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
