The detail photo-etched set 1:700 JMSDF Maya Class DDG Detail-up Set from Tetra Model Works for a model of the Japanese guided missile destroyer of the Maya class. An accessory for a kit, not a model of a ship.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched detail set in 1:700 scale for a plastic model of the Japanese guided missile destroyer of the Maya class. The set does not replace the kit but completes it: thin metal parts stand in for the plastic pieces that in this scale are necessarily thicker than reality would call for, and they give the finished ship a sharpness that cannot be achieved in plastic.
The Maya is a guided missile destroyer of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force equipped with the Aegis combat system. It descends from the previous Japanese Aegis class, against which it is larger and more modern, and it entered service in 2020. Characteristic of it are the flat phased array radar panels built into the front of the superstructure, vertical launch cells on the bow as well as the stern and a sizable landing deck for a helicopter. The ship is among the most powerful surface units Japan has ever built.
Cut the individual parts off with a scalpel on a hard surface, and never tear them out of the sheet. For bending use a bending tool, or two steel rules, so that the edge stays straight. They are bonded with super glue, applied in tiny drops with the tip of a wire or a thin needle. Spray degreased metal with primer, otherwise the paint does not hold. Leave the finest parts, that is the antennas, the masts and everything that projects above the deck, until the very end of the build: the finished model is then easier to hold and you will not bend anything.
