Injection-molded plastic kit of the German Type VIIB submarine of the Second World War in 1:700 scale from Hobby Boss. It is a small, quickly assembled model with a low parts count, two conning tower options and a finely rendered deck; a stand with a screen-printed nameplate is included. In this scale the assembled model is a compact display piece.
The Type VII was the most widely used and most numerously built class of submarines in history and formed the backbone of the German submarine fleet in the Battle of the Atlantic. The VIIB version had a longer range and slightly higher speed than the basic VIIA. The famous U-47, which penetrated the British base at Scapa Flow, was also a Type VIIB. Despite the cramped conditions these boats were popular with their crews for their quick emergency dive.
The model can be finished as a full hull on the stand or as a waterline on a water base. Given the small scale, work with a sharp blade and a magnifier and take care over the fine deck and the conning tower fittings. Spray the hull in shades of gray, set the lower section apart and even out the surface with a very light wash. Finish the small parts last.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
