A Quinta Models decal sheet for the Su-31 aerobatic aircraft in 1:48 scale, supplemented with printed parts and parts of fiberglass resin.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Su-31 is a single-seat aerobatic aircraft built for the highest aerobatic class. It is powered by a piston radial engine, and the landing gear is fixed, not retractable, with a tailwheel at the back. The structure relies on light weight and on resistance to high g loads, so that the machine will stand up to routines flown at the limit of the pilot's ability. The Pt.1 designation in the name marks the first part, which the further parts of the series follow.
Its core is a printed decal sheet. To it the manufacturer adds printed parts and parts of fiberglass resin, which supplement the flat decoration with real volume. The extent and layout of the sheet follow the manufacturer's material, so go through the enclosed diagram before you start work and plan the order of application.
The decals are wet. Cut the element out, dip it in lukewarm water for a few seconds and let it rest on absorbent paper until it starts to release from the backing. Apply it over smooth gloss varnish and draw the surplus water off. Do not use a decal softener, as it attacks the printed resin. The printed parts carry the remains of print supports; cut them off with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the surface down. Rid the fiberglass resin parts of surplus material in the same way. Wash and degrease both before painting; they are glued with cyanoacrylate glue.
A decal sheet with add-on parts is what is supplied. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
