USS Astoria was a heavy cruiser of the New Orleans class. In the Second World War she took part in the Battle of the Coral Sea and the Battle of Midway. In August 1942 she was sunk at the Battle of Savo Island in the opening phase of the fighting for Guadalcanal. Her main battery consisted of nine guns of 203 mm.
Thin plastic cement, a primer and an airbrush are the answer; the American Measure camouflage schemes are typical for 1942. Paint the hull and the decks before the armament is fitted. The look is picked out by photo-etched railings and rigging, which are not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
