The plastic kit of the USS San Francisco CA-38 1944 in 1:700 scale from Trumpeter captures the American New Orleans class heavy cruiser in her later wartime state.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American heavy cruiser USS San Francisco CA-38 as she was in 1944, in 1:700 scale from the manufacturer Trumpeter. The model allows a build with a full hull as well as in a waterline version and holds a stand. The 1944 version captures the ship in the disruptive camouflage scheme of the day.
USS San Francisco CA-38 was a heavy cruiser of the New Orleans class with a main armament of 203 mm caliber. By 1944 the ship had gone through changes to her armament and equipment and carried an extended light anti-aircraft armament. In this period she wore the disruptive camouflage typical of the later phase of the war in the Pacific.
The hull can be built as a whole or as a waterline; clean up the joints carefully. Glue the plastic with a thin liquid cement and lay the colors on with an airbrush. The disruptive camouflage is worth handling by masking, for sharp transitions between the shades. The fine deck fittings and the railings can be completed with photo-etched sets, which are not included in the package.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
