A plastic kit of the Lockheed AC-130H Spectre (Italeri) in 1:72 scale: the massive gunship derived from the Hercules transport, with side-firing guns.
Responsibility details are not available.
A large injection-molded plastic kit of the gunship in 1:72 scale from Italeri. It represents the AC-130H Spectre, the armed gunship version of the four-engine Hercules transport, with its characteristic side armament firing at right angles from the left side of the fuselage. The box holds gray plastic parts with engraved panel lines, clear parts, a decal sheet and illustrated instructions. Because of its size and the number of parts this is a more demanding kit, better suited to more experienced modelers.
The AC-130 is a gunship created by converting the Hercules transport into a heavily armed fire-support platform. The AC-130H Spectre version carried a battery of side-firing weapons, from rapid-firing cannon through a 40 mm cannon to a massive 105 mm howitzer, which it carried in the rear of the fuselage. The aircraft operates mainly at night: it orbits over the target and supports ground units with concentrated side fire, destroying targets and protecting friendly forces. Its long range and great endurance make it an effective close-support weapon.
Follow the instructions and finish the cockpit and the interior with its armament first, and only then close up the fuselage. On the large surfaces, take care to glue firmly and squarely so that no gaps appear. Use liquid cement for plastic, a primer and an airbrush; mask the clear parts before painting. Bring the dark night finish to life with subtle transitions, washes in the engraved lines and discreet patina from exhaust and service wear.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
