A die-cut self-adhesive masking set from the Czech maker Eduard. It is neither a kit nor a model, but an accessory for modelers in 1:72 scale which sharpens and speeds up the masking of the cockpit glazing and the wheels while the paints are sprayed. The precisely shaped masks are made of fine Japanese kabuki tape.
The masks are stuck onto the frames of the canopy and onto the wheel discs, so that after spraying the glass stays clear and the tires free of paint. Kabuki tape adapts to rounded shapes, holds tightly and leaves no adhesive when lifted off. The result is crisp, straight lines on the canopy frames without laboriously cutting tape by hand.
The Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress was an American four-engined heavy bomber of the Second World War. The B-17F version was deployed on daylight strategic bombing over Europe and was notable for heavy defensive armament from many machine gun positions and for extensive glazing of the nose. It was powered by four radial engines and the machine was renowned for taking punishment.
The set contains die-cut masking parts only. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
