A combined set of the badges of the Dutch squadrons that flew the F-16. One sheet covers several units at once, in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Royal Netherlands Air Force was among the first European operators of the F-16, and the machine stayed in service with it for more than four decades before a new generation took over. Over that time it passed through the hands of a whole series of squadrons, each of which had a badge of its own, a colored band on the fin and sometimes an occasional anniversary coloring as well.
Unlike sheets tied to a single machine, this item gathers the badges of several units in one place. You therefore build according to which squadron you want to represent and are not dependent on one particular fuselage number. For a collection meant to show the development of one type with one air force, a single sheet thus covers several units at once.
With unit badges it is crucial that the shade of the print agrees with the color of the sprayed band on the fin, if you are doing that with an airbrush. The surest approach is to take the tone from the print itself rather than from a table, because even a small difference is immediately visible side by side. Apply the smaller elements last, so that they are not damaged during handling.
The Dutch units changed their designations with reorganizations, and some emblems altered slightly over the years. When building from a photograph, therefore, compare whether the form of the badge matches the period you want to capture. The differences tend to lie in a detail of the artwork or in the color of the border.
The contents are a print for the given size. Kits and accessory parts are not included and are bought separately.
