The package holds plastic sprues, a separate sprue of clear plastic for the cabin glazing, decals and instructions with a color scheme. It is a short-run model, so the parts call for more careful cleaning up and dry-fitting; in return it offers a subject the main makers do not deal with.
The HFB 320 Hansa Jet was a business jet developed in Germany by the firm Hamburger Flugzeugbau. Its recognition mark is the unusual forward-swept wing, thanks to which the spar could pass through the fuselage behind the cabin and not take room away from the passengers. Power was provided by two jet engines placed on the sides of the rear fuselage. The machine served with corporate and charter operators and in later years in military special roles as well. Relatively few were built, which makes the model an interesting addition to a collection of civil aircraft.
Short-run models are built differently from mainstream kits. Reckon on removing flash, sanding the mating surfaces and on the parts having no pronounced locating pins. Dry-fit everything and glue with thin plastic cement, which will flow into the joint by capillary action. It is advisable to reinforce the fuselage and the wing before gluing them together, and ballast may need to be added to the nose so that the model does not sit back on its tail. Mask the glazing and fix it with canopy glue, so that it does not craze. A glossy civil scheme calls for a smooth base, so sand the surface and spray a primer before painting. Apply a gloss coat under the decals and clear-coat the model as needed once it has dried.
