Empty 50 mm cartridge cases for the PaK 38 gun in 1:72 scale are an accessory for dioramas and for completing an artillery position.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set contains spent cartridge cases of 50 mm caliber in 1:72 scale. It is neither a model of the gun nor complete ammunition — these are separate parts to be thrown around the carriage, stacked by a gun pit or scattered over the floor of a fighting compartment. Discarded cases are among the most effective details of all: they tell by themselves what has just happened in a scene, and they call for no further accessories.
The 5 cm PaK 38 with a barrel 60 calibers long was a German towed antitank gun introduced at the beginning of the 1940s. It served with infantry as well as tank units practically to the end of the war and also appeared on several self-propelled chassis. Its ammunition has a characteristically long cartridge case of 50 mm caliber, which was also used by the long 5 cm tank weapon L/60 of the later versions of the Pz.Kpfw. III. The shorter 5 cm tank weapon of the earlier versions, on the other hand, had a markedly shorter case, so the length of the case is the distinguishing feature here and is worth watching in a scene.
Cut the parts off the casting blocks with a scalpel and level the faces. Before painting, wash them in lukewarm soapy water and lay down a thin base coat, otherwise the paint rubs off during handling. Knock the brass shade back with a brown wash and polish the edges and the bases of the cases lightly back to a sheen. Set cases lying in soil partly into the groundwork and tie them in with a pigment, so that they do not look stuck on. A few pieces stacked in a box or leaning against the edge of a gun pit look more natural than evenly spaced parts.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
