A resin exhaust nozzle set for a model of the Lockheed F-104 Starfighter supersonic fighter in 1:72 scale from Aires. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for improving a plastic kit of the matching type. The set replaces the simplified engine tail end from the box with a precisely cast nozzle carrying accurate relief inside and out.
The F-104 Starfighter was a supersonic fighter and interceptor of the Cold War, famous for its slender fuselage and very short, thin wing. It was powered by a single strong turbojet with afterburner, which took it to high speeds. It flew with a number of Western air forces and earned a nickname that reflected its rocket-slim shape.
Wash the part to remove any mold release agent, separate it from the casting block and dry-fit it against the end of the fuselage. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate) and protect your airways while sanding resin. The metallic, scorched look of the nozzle is well caught by metallic paint shades plus light picking out with a wash.
This is a resin accessory for a kit, not an airplane model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
