A set of masking templates F-4J Phantom II in 1:72 scale from SX-Art. It is not a kit but an aid for spraying the glazing cleanly.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a set of self-adhesive masking templates, not a model of the airplane. The templates are cut to the shape of the glazing of the Phantom II and take the place of the laborious cutting of strips of masking tape. With a tandem cockpit with two sliding canopy sections and a great many narrow frames, that is work which by hand takes more time than all the rest of the spraying.
The McDonnell Douglas F-4J was the naval variant of the Phantom II intended for the US Navy and the Marine Corps. Compared with the older versions it was given a more capable radar, reworked avionics and a revised horizontal tail surface, which improved its behavior on approach to a carrier deck. Like the whole early Phantom family it had no built-in cannon and relied on guided missiles.
Wash the clear parts in soapy water, rinse them and let them dry perfectly. Carry the masks with tweezers, press them down around the edge and cover the rest of the area with tape. Spray in thin coats and from the edge of the mask into the surface. On naval Phantoms it pays to spray the dark interior shade of the framing first, under the light gray top color. Take the masks off shortly after drying, while the finish is still flexible.
The set does not contain a model, paints or glue.
