An accessory set representing the electronic equipment bay of the F-4J Phantom II, for models in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A model of an aircraft with the panels closed shows only its shape. As soon as you open one panel, the whole impression changes: the viewer looks inside the machine and the model reads as equipment under maintenance rather than as a display piece. This set offers the electronic equipment bay of the F-4J Phantom II, a carrier fighter of the US Navy, in the version for 1:72 scale.
Plan the installation in advance and ideally before the fuselage is glued together. Try the parts dry first and glue them only afterward; in a small scale every tenth of a millimeter by which a part fails to seat matters. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest back, so as not to damage the detail itself. The set is not made of polystyrene, so it is joined with super glue.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting. Paint the bay open and in your hand rather than once it is installed in the fuselage. A light base, a darker application into the recesses and small color accents on the individual boxes work well, and the viewer's eye then finds its own way to what matters. Complete the open panel with a little scene, for instance tools or a figure of a mechanic, so that the open part has a reason. Sand the edge of the open panel down thin, because a thick plastic edge spoils the impression more than missing detail inside.
The package holds an accessory set. The model of the aircraft, paints, glue and figures are not included, unless stated otherwise.
