An injection-molded plastic model of the German fighter Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9, known as the Dora, in 1:72 scale from IBG models. The kit depicts the late production version from the Mimetall works, identifiable by its enlarged, so-called broad tail — originally designed for the Ta 152, it improved stability at high speed. The package includes decals for Luftwaffe markings.
The Fw 190D-9, nicknamed the Dora or Langnase (long nose), was a late development of the famous Focke-Wulf Fw 190. Unlike earlier radial-engine versions, the Dora received the liquid-cooled inverted-V engine Junkers Jumo 213A, which required lengthening both the nose and tail of the fuselage. The result was a powerful interceptor and high-altitude fighter deployed in the war's final stages against Allied bombers and fighters, including the American P-51 Mustang. The Mimetall-built version was among the very last production examples.
We recommend working with thin liquid plastic cement and dry-fitting the fuselage and wings before gluing. Use an airbrush and a good primer for a clean finish. Late-war machines carried the typical German late-war camouflage in shades of gray — highlight the color transitions with pre-shading and the panel lines with a light wash. Mask the cockpit glazing with your own tape.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
