The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9 mask set from Art Scale is a modeling accessory for the IBG kit, not a model of an aircraft. It covers the clear parts while you spray, so that the frames come out straight and with a crisp paint edge. The designation one-sided means a single-sided set for the outside of the glazing.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D-9, nicknamed Dora, was a development branch of the Fw 190 fighter with a liquid-cooled Junkers Jumo 213 inverted V12 engine. Because of the longer power plant the aircraft received an extended nose and a lengthened rear fuselage with an inserted plug, so its silhouette is noticeably slimmer than that of the earlier radial-engine versions. The annular radiator mounted ahead of the engine does, at first glance, look like a radial power plant, which is a common source of confusion. The cockpit is closed by a sliding canopy with pronounced framing that is clearly visible on a finished model.
Wash and degrease the clear part. Lift the masks off the backing film with tweezers, lay them on the frame and press them down with a soft tool so that the edges seat along their whole length. On the curved parts of the canopy a small fan-shaped relief cut helps, or careful trimming with a sharp scalpel right on the part, using minimal pressure. Spray in thin coats: first the shade of the cockpit interior, then the base coat and finally the top color. A heavy coat builds a ridge under the edge of the mask that stays visible as a step once it is lifted. Lift the mask as soon as the paint is dry to the touch.
