1:72 German Submarine 10.5 cm gun is an Eduard add-on set with a 10.5 cm deck gun for a model of a German submarine in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit of a submarine but an accessory for one.

This set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard replaces the deck gun from the box with a detailed casting. It is not a model of a submarine or a part of one, but an accessory that is fitted onto the deck of a model under construction in 1:72 scale. The line to which the set's code belongs is a resin one at Eduard, so castings with sharper detail than an injection mold can manage are to be expected; on the gun barrel, the breech and the mount the difference shows up most.
The 10.5 cm deck gun was among the armament of the larger German submarines built in the 1930s and 1940s. It was a gun placed on the deck in front of the conning tower, on a rotating mount with simple handling and without an armor shield; the structure had to stand up to the constant action of seawater, and its mechanism was therefore markedly simplified. The importance of deck guns fell during the war and on later submarines they were given up in favor of anti-aircraft armament.
First wash the castings in warm water with detergent to remove the remains of the mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw rather than with nippers and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Glue the resin parts with super glue; cement for plastic will not hold on them. Try the barrel dry before gluing and check that it is square to the deck: on a submarine model a gun set crooked shows up immediately. In terms of color, a dark base, light emphasis on the edges with dry brushing and discreet traces of salt corrosion where water would naturally run down all work well.
The set is an accessory for a kit. It holds no model of a submarine, no paints and no glue.
