A plastic kit of the Chinese Harbin Z-5 helicopter in 1:72 scale from Smer. The Z-5 is the Chinese license-built version of the Soviet Mil Mi-4, so the model shares the basic shape of the airframe but differs in production details and above all in the national markings offered. It comes as injection-molded plastic with a decal sheet.
The Harbin Z-5 was created as the Chinese license-built copy of the piston-engine Mil Mi-4 helicopter and first flew at the end of the 1950s. China got production going in the following decade and the machine served in transport, airborne and auxiliary roles. Helicopters of this type also appeared with other armed forces in Asia and became the Chinese counterpart of the widespread Soviet machine. It is exactly this wide service and the characteristic Chinese finish that set the Z-5 apart from its Soviet model for a collector.
Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, then fill and sand the fuselage joints. It is a good idea to mask the cabin glazing before painting. A base primer improves the adhesion of the paint, and an airbrush or a brush can be used for painting. We recommend assembling the cargo compartment and the interior before you close up the fuselage. To set it apart from the Soviet Mi-4, pay attention to the correct Chinese markings from the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
