An injection-molded plastic model of the reconnaissance aircraft Heinkel He 70F-2 in Spanish Air Force service, in 1:72 scale from the ICM range. The model captures the elegant single-engine low-wing monoplane with the aerodynamically clean shapes for which it became known.
The Heinkel He 70 came about in the early 1930s as a fast mail and transport aircraft, and its clean lines were ahead of their time. The military F-2 version served for reconnaissance and light bombing. In Spain the type was fielded by units during the civil war, where it found its place above all in the reconnaissance role until more modern machines overshadowed it. Its elegant elliptical wing and smooth skin were among its recognition features.
Glue the plastic parts with a thin model cement for plastic, and fill and carefully sand the joints of the fuselage and the leading edges so that the smooth silhouette shows. Apply a primer before painting. Spray the period Spanish camouflage with an airbrush in thin coats. A gloss varnish under the decals will keep their edges from lifting, and a matte varnish will tie the final look together.
