An accessory for figures in 1:72 scale. The package contains neither a figure nor a kit, only the helmet casting itself, to be fitted onto a figure you already have. This variant is the detail version and the manufacturer makes it alongside a basic version of the same type; both can be used on the same figures.
The M38 helmet is an adaptation of the standard steel helmet for airborne units. The bowl has a cut-back edge with no projecting rim and no marked brim or neck guard, so that it is not in the way and does not catch during a jump or in a confined space; inside is a padded liner, outside a multi-point fastening. The result is a smooth, round silhouette that differs from an ordinary infantry helmet even in a small scale. The pairing of branch and equipment is right here: the M38 really is the airborne version, not the infantry one.
Separate the part from the casting remnant with a sharp scalpel or a fine saw and level the surface with fine abrasive paper. On a helmet with a more finely rendered surface go carefully when sanding, so as not to rub the detail away. Cut the original head off the figure low at the neck, seat the new one dry, check the angle and only then glue it with cyanoacrylate glue. Degrease the parts before painting and apply a really thin primer: a thick coat floods a fine surface. Paint the helmet matte and pull the shape out with a light lightening from above and a shadow at the lower edge.
