An injection-molded plastic kit of the attack aircraft Ilyushin Il-2 in 1:72 scale from the Czech manufacturer Smer. In the HI-TECH edition a set of photo-etched metal parts for finer detail is added to the plastic parts. The model is based on an older mold; the box holds plastic parts, photo-etched parts, decals and instructions. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package.
The Ilyushin Il-2 Shturmovik was a Soviet attack aircraft of the Second World War, one of the most numerously produced combat aircraft in history. It was designed for attacks on ground targets and became famous for the armor that protected the pilot and the engine from fire from the ground. It carried cannon, machine guns, bombs and unguided rockets and played a key role on the Eastern Front.
Dry-fit the plastic parts first and clean up the mold seams. Glue with liquid cement for plastic. Cut the photo-etched metal parts from the fret, clean them up and glue them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); a photo-etch bender or a hard edge helps with folding them. Lay a primer before painting, spray the paints with an airbrush and consider weathering to bring out the wear of an attack machine.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
