A kit of the Czechoslovak Aero L-29 Delfin jet trainer in 1:72 scale. It is a classic injection-molded plastic model supplied unassembled and unpainted. The number of parts, the number of decal schemes and the exact contents of the package are given in the instructions supplied with the kit — check them after unpacking.
The L-29 Delfin was the first jet aircraft designed and series-built in Czechoslovakia. It came about at the turn of the 1950s and 1960s as a basic trainer with two seats in tandem, a simple and durable structure and a single jet engine. Characteristic of it are the straight wing leading edge, the tailplane set high on the vertical tail and its lack of demands on the quality of the takeoff surface — the aircraft was able to operate even from grass strips. Over three thousand were built and the Delfin became the standard training type in most countries of the Eastern Bloc of the day and with a number of other users. Some of the machines still fly today in civilian hands.
The most demanding place is the two-seat cockpit — finish and paint it before closing the fuselage, because it is clearly visible under the long glazing. Do not forget the nose weight; trainers with nose-wheel landing gear otherwise sit back on the tail. Mask the glazing and glue it on only after painting, ideally with an adhesive made for clear parts, which does not fog the surface. It is worth blacking out or at least darkening the engine intake ducts so that the model does not look empty. Spray the base color with an airbrush; the Delfin appeared both in a natural metal finish and in colorful training and camouflage schemes, so choose according to the decals in the package. Apply gloss varnish before the decals.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
