1:72 Ka-52 EXPERT kabuki masks

New Ware Kamov Ka-52 EXPERT kabuki masks 1:72

A set of accurately shaped self-adhesive painting masks of fine Japanese washi tape (kabuki masks) for a plastic model of the Kamov Ka-52 attack helicopter in 1:72 scale. This is neither a model nor a helicopter part but an aid for spraying the cockpit glazing and further areas cleanly. The EXPERT version is the most complete level of the set: besides the outer canopy masks it also holds masks for the frame sealant and the inner face of the glazing, and further the other clear parts and the wheels.

The real subject

The Kamov Ka-52, nicknamed Alligator, is a Russian two-seat attack helicopter with side-by-side pilot seats, derived from the single-seat Ka-50. It has the typical coaxial arrangement of two contra-rotating main rotors with no tail rotor and it carries a cannon, guided missiles and unguided rockets. Its NATO reporting name is Hokum.

How to use the masks

• Clean and degrease the clear parts and seat the mask exactly on the glazing frames.
• Press the edges down firmly so that paint cannot get underneath, then spray with an airbrush or a spray can.
• Apply thin coats and take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried.
• The wheel masks let the tire be separated cleanly from the rim.

Who the set is for

• For modelers who want sharp color transitions without the long job of masking with tape.
• For a build with a greater emphasis on the detail of the segmented cockpit glazing.
• For advanced builders who will also appreciate the inner masks and the frame sealant masks.

The masks are an accessory for painting the model. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package.
