Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese Kawanishi N1K1-Ja Shiden Type 11 fighter in 1:72 scale from Tamiya. The model has finely engraved panel lines, a faithfully rendered cockpit interior, the landing gear with its bays and a clear canopy. The precision of the parts and the excellent fit typical of Tamiya make this kit a pleasant and trouble-free project.
The Shiden came about by an unusual route: it grew out of the Kawanishi Kyofu floatplane fighter, rebuilt as a land-based version. It was powered by a strong radial engine and armed with 20 mm cannon; its recognition marks are the stocky fuselage and the four-blade propeller. The Imperial Japanese Navy deployed the Type 11 in the closing stage of the war in the Pacific, where it was among the most capable Japanese fighters.
Thanks to the exact fit it is enough to clean the parts up and glue them with liquid cement for plastic. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close the fuselage up, and mask the canopy. Paint the surfaces with an airbrush after a coat of primer; a fine panel wash brings out the engraved lines and a final matte varnish evens the surface out.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
