An injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese twin-engine Kugisho P1Y1 Ginga bomber in 1:72 scale by Hasegawa. This torpedo version depicts a Type 11 machine of the Yokosuka Flying Group and adds resin accessories to the plastic parts – a torpedo and a modified bomb bay. The combination of plastic and resin makes the set somewhat more demanding, but the result is a richly equipped model.
The P1Y1 Ginga, Allied code name Frances, was a Japanese twin-engine bomber of the Second World War designed as a fast attack and torpedo machine able to operate even under low cloud. It was marked by a slender aerodynamic fuselage, a pair of radial engines and a long range. The torpedo version was intended for attacks on surface targets.
Glue the plastic parts with thin cement for plastic. Wash the resin parts free of release agent residue first, cut off the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways while sanding resin. Apply a primer before painting, lay the shades down with an airbrush and put the decals onto a gloss varnish. Assembling the torpedo bomb bay calls for small changes to the parts according to the instructions.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
