An injection-molded plastic kit of the American fifth-generation stealth fighter F-35B Lightning II in 1:72 scale from Tamiya. The smaller scale makes it a more accessible way into the world of modern stealth hardware. The model captures the version capable of short takeoff and vertical landing, with the radar-absorbent surface suggested.
The F-35B is the variant of the Lightning II intended for short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL). Behind the cockpit it has a large lift fan and a swiveling engine nozzle, thanks to which it can operate from short decks and improvised surfaces. As a fifth-generation machine it puts the emphasis on reduced radar reflectivity and advanced sensors.
Finish the cockpit before closing the fuselage, mask the clear canopy and glue it on after varnishing. Fit the external stores according to the weapons configuration you choose. Join the parts with liquid cement for plastic, treat the surface with a primer and lay the low-observable gray shades down with an airbrush in thin coats; bring out the panel lines with a discreet wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
