The mold from the Great Wall Hobby brand is one of the newer renderings of the Fulcrum in 1:72 and aims at modelers who want accurate shapes without having to correct anything. This is the early production form of the basic 9-12 version; the manufacturer makes the later rendition as a separate kit.
The MiG-29 came about as an answer to the American fourth-generation fighters and reached the units from the first half of the 1980s. The pair of RD-33 engines, the prominent wing root extensions and the large air intakes with covers against ingesting debris from the runway made it an agile aircraft for close-in combat. The pilot had a radar supplemented by an infrared search and track sensor and a helmet-mounted sight, thanks to which he could launch a missile off the aircraft axis. The 9-12 version was the basic production rendition, from which the later variants with larger fuel capacity and the export aircraft were derived.
Assemble and sand the air intakes and their ducts before you close up the fuselage, otherwise you will not reach them again. It pays to refine the cockpit with seat belts and the instrument panel, because the canopy is nicely transparent. The typical Soviet camouflage rests on soft transitions between gray-blue shades, so set the airbrush to a low pressure and lay the paint on in several thin coats.
It is sold as a set of parts that you first assemble and then spray according to the chosen scheme.
