Khaki with an olive cast: Khaki OD FS34088 from Lifecolor is a shade on which the difference between light dust and dried mud can be shown well.
Responsibility details are not available.
The difference between dust and mud lies mainly in whether the layer has volume. Dust is a flat veil that only lightens and blurs the color beneath it. Dried mud, on the other hand, has thickness, an irregular edge and cracks in places. Mix the two into one layer and you get an indefinite grime with no character. This khaki shade with an olive undertone, whose name refers to the American Federal Standard FS34088, is a calm ground for such work, one on which the two layers can be told apart.
Dust holds on horizontal surfaces and in sheltered places, follows the shape of the part and nowhere creates an outline of its own. Mud, by contrast, forms where grime has met water: around the running gear, on the lower surfaces, in splashes and in the places where the machine drove into rough ground. It dries from the outside in, so an older layer is lighter and duller than a fresh one.
For modelers of ground vehicles who want their soiling layered rather than merged into one gray-brown surface. It also serves well on figure kit and diorama accessories.
Keep the paint out of the reach of children, ensure ventilation when spraying and protect your airways and eyes.
