This injection-molded plastic kit from Trumpeter captures the upgraded version of the Russian MiG-29SMT fighter (factory designation Izdeliye 9.19) in 1:72 scale. The model reproduces the characteristic twin-engine fuselage, the enlarged fuselage spine and the finely engraved surface, and it is intended to be glued and painted.
The MiG-29 is a twin-engine multirole fighter of Soviet design, known in the West by the NATO reporting name Fulcrum. The upgraded SMT version brought a greater internal fuel volume in the enlarged fuselage spine, newer avionics and the ability to carry a wider range of weapons. The type remains an agile frontline aircraft with good maneuvering qualities.
On the plastic use liquid cement. Finish the cockpit and the landing gear bays before you close the fuselage. Given the smaller scale, take care over clean joints and thin coats of paint; a primer coat, an airbrush and a varnish compatible with the paint used under the decals are recommended. A fine wash will accentuate the engraved panel detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
