Resin wheels for the early-series MiG-23 and MiG-23P in 1:72 scale from Armory replace the plastic landing gear parts with a casting with a crisp tread and a clean hub.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set intended to replace the landing gear wheels when building a MiG-23 model in 1:72 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory. The form matches the early type of wheel carried by the first series of this aircraft, so it is best chosen according to the particular version you are building; the manufacturer lists a separate item for the later versions.
The MiG-23 was a Soviet single-engined fighter with a variable-geometry wing, brought into service from the end of the 1960s and operated in many versions and countries. The MiG-23P variant was an air-defense interceptor. The type changed markedly during production, the landing gear included, and the differences between the early and late series are among the things often worked out on a model.
Before doing anything, wash the castings; there tends to be a thin film of mold release agent on the surface. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw and level the surfaces. It works well to paint the wheel before gluing it on, as it is easier to hold by the casting remnant than as a finished part. First primer, then the hub shade, then cover that with a circular mask or masking fluid and spray over the tire. Finally a dark wash into the gap between hub and tire, which immediately brings out the shape.
This is an accessory for building a model, not a standalone kit of the aircraft. It is supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package.
