A masking set from the Czech maker Art Scale for the Mirage IIICJ kit in 1:72 scale from Special Hobby. The masks are die-cut in advance from self-adhesive kabuki film, and that is what the designation express means at Art Scale: nothing is traced or cut out, the mask is only peeled off and stuck on. The set holds masks for the canopy glazing outside and inside and wheel masks.
Why a double-sided mask makes sense: the frames of the canopy are visible from the inside as well once the cockpit is closed. If you paint only the outside, clear plastic stays inside and the illusion falls apart. A double-sided set lets you paint the frames from both sides in the correct interior and exterior shade.
The Mirage III is a French supersonic fighter with a delta wing, one of the most successful Western combat aircraft of the 1960s. The IIICJ version was delivered to Israel, where it became the main fighter of the Israeli Air Force and made its name in the Six-Day War of 1967. The unmistakable silhouette of a tailless delta and the striking Israeli camouflage make the Mirage IIICJ a rewarding subject.
For modelers who build the Mirage IIICJ in 1:72 from Special Hobby and want sharp canopy frames without hours of work with a scalpel, and who also care that the cockpit looks right from the inside.
This is NOT a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
