A vacuum-formed clear canopy with masks for a model of the early Mitsubishi A6M1/2a in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A vacuum-formed clear canopy complemented by masks for its framing. This is an accessory to a model of the early Mitsubishi A6M machines, that is the prototype and the first production version of the Japanese carrier-based fighter. The extent of the set and the kit it is cut for are stated in the manufacturer's instructions.
A vacuum-formed part is made by drawing a heated transparent sheet over a mold, so it is substantially thinner than the injection-molded canopy from the kit. There is then a better view into the cockpit, the frames do not look like a barricade, and the canopy can be divided and fitted slid back without any trouble. The thin wall has its price too: the part is pliable and will not take rough handling.
Cut the canopy out with some margin and work your way to the outline by sanding on sandpaper laid out flat, so that the edge is level and sits along its whole length. Do not use super glue for the gluing, its vapors will fog the clear surface; reach for a cement intended for clear parts. Stick the masks onto a dry and clean surface before spraying, press them down with a toothpick all the way around and apply the paint in thin layers so that it does not run under the edge. Once the paint has dried, peel the masks off carefully with the tip of a blade. To be safe, try the procedure out on a piece of offcut, because the vacuum-formed canopy is in the package in a limited number only.
The kit, the paints and the glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
