Injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese interceptor Nakajima Ki-44-II Shoki (Allied designation Tojo) in 1:72 scale from Hasegawa. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. For the exact contents of the box and the number of finishing schemes, follow the enclosed instructions.
The Ki-44 Shoki was a Japanese army interceptor powered by a radial engine and built with the emphasis on speed and rate of climb rather than on agility. Short wings and high wing loading made it a fast aircraft but a more demanding one in a turning fight. It was used above all in the defense against Allied bombers; the Ki-44-II version was the most numerous and had a more powerful engine and heavier armament. The Allies gave it the code name Tojo.
Finish and paint the cockpit first, and only then close up the fuselage and seat the glazing. The radial engine and its cowling come to life once the cylinders and the shadows are picked out with a wash. Spray the base coat over a primer; apply the typical Japanese schemes (natural metal, green mottling, leading-edge identification bands) with an airbrush in thin coats. Pick out the panel lines with a light wash and the worn metal with a dry brush.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
Za tuto cenu velmi pěkná, byť letitá stavebnice, v negativním rytí. Vše krásně pasuje. Plný počet hvězd jsem nedal, neboť vykazuje několik odchylek od předlohy. Rytí na křídlech, tvar překrytu kabiny, chybějící mechanismus zavírání podvozku a pár dalších drobností. Pilotní kabina je bez detailů. Vzhledem k tomu, že se nyní jedná o jediný kit v prodeji v měřítku 1/72 (Sword je již dávno vyprodán), tak nezbývá zkušenému modeláři těch pár nepřesností opravit, překryt kabiny koupit od Rob Taurus nebo Dead Design. A myslím, že méně zkušený modelář se s malými nedostatky dokáže smířit a stavbu si užít.
